SAAS SEO CHECKLIST

24 checks to run before you publish another page.

The whole checklist is on this page. No gate, no download, no email. If you'd rather have it run against your own URLs, that's what the free audit is.

THE SHORT VERSION

The SaaS SEO checklist runs in six ordered passes: technical SEO first (indexation gates everything), then on-page, keyword research, topical authority, schema markup, and internal linking last. 24 checks in total — a founder can clear technical and on-page in a weekend; topical authority takes months because it requires publishing, not fixing.

PASS 01

Technical SEO

  • Every commercial page returns HTML content in the raw response, not only after JavaScript executes.
  • Search Console coverage shows no 'Discovered — currently not indexed' on money pages.
  • One self-referencing canonical per URL, and it points at the page itself, not the homepage.
  • sitemap.xml is generated from your content source and lists every indexable route.

PASS 02

On-page SEO

  • The page format matches the dominant format in the top 10 for its head term.
  • The title carries the head term within the first 60 characters and reads like a human wrote it.
  • Exactly one H1, and it states the page's promise rather than the brand name.
  • A quotable, self-contained answer appears in the first 100 words.

PASS 03

Keyword research

  • Head terms come from how your ICP describes the problem, not from a volume export.
  • Commercial and informational intent are split into separate URLs, never merged.
  • Difficulty is banded against your actual authority, not against an absolute score.
  • Every target term has one — and only one — page assigned to it.

PASS 04

Topical authority

  • One central entity is named, and every page can be traced back to it.
  • Pillars exist for each core sub-topic, with clusters that answer one question each.
  • No orphan articles: every cluster links up to its pillar and the pillar links back down.
  • Publishing runs on a cadence rather than in bursts.

PASS 05

Schema markup

  • Organization and SoftwareApplication JSON-LD ship sitewide from the template.
  • Article schema on content pages carries a real headline, author, and dates.
  • FAQPage schema matches the Q&A actually rendered on the page, word for word.
  • Every block validates in the Rich Results Test with zero errors.

PASS 06

Internal linking

  • Your highest-authority pages link in-body to pricing and comparison pages.
  • Anchor text uses the destination page's head term, not 'click here' or 'learn more'.
  • Links sit inside body copy, not only in the nav and footer.
  • No indexable page is more than three clicks from the homepage.

Using the checklist

  • No. All 24 checks are on this page in full. If you want the weekly teardown that applies them to a real SaaS site, the newsletter is optional and separate.
